Deleted Scene Question

I just bought the special edition dvd of the movie. As I was watching the deleted scenes cut from the film, the was a part that I didn't understand. 1 of the deleted scenes showed a part where Selena trips on the floor and Yolanda gives her a very mean smile. Then when her friends help her up, Yolanda goes to her and asks Selena, are you ok? Was that scene to show Yolanda was a 2 face scum or something else?

reply

Maybe, and that would've been too fictitious, unless someone saw that happening in real life. I think the movie made the right choices and didn't focus on Yolanda, making it about Selena's life, not her death.

I had spoken to a guy who said he thought read about her actually falling in real life. But, I highly doubt it. As I've said in another post, this movie is not entirely accurate and I think they should make another with the ACTUAL facts instead of just making it for the sake of entertaining people.

And have Selena Gomez, a true Mexican-American, play her. After all, Selena Gomez was named after Selena, courtesy of her parents being Selena fans.

reply

Uh...no sir. In my opinion that would be worse than getting Jen to do it. I truly believe that aside from both of them being of Mexican heritage and sharing a name, Jen has more in common with La Reina. Selena Gomez's mom is white (non Latina) by the way and most importantly Gomez looks NOTHING like her; she looks even less like her than Jennifer. Also I don't think she's ready for such a dramatic role. So acting wise it would definitely be a downgrade. Gomez would have to work BIG TIME on her Spanish/pronunciation. Selena may have not spoken much Spanish (initially) but you would never know that, listening to her records. Between the issues with Gomez not looking mature enough, and having little to no rhythm, or body to fill out the clothes it would be a huge awkward disaster. I don't dislike the girl but no.

I think the movie's fine as is but if anything ever come to fruition (hopefully very different) then how about this time they get an actual Mexican American ACTRESS who fits the bill.

reply

What exactly do you think the movie got wrong and should be changed, Star Island?

reply

In the longer version of Selena(1997), there's a scene where girls at school poke fun of Selena's name. Then they poke fun of her inability to speak Spanish/Castellano.

reply

I remember that one.
