not much on yolanda

I don't think this movie talked enough about Yolanda. Watching this movie, I had no idea who she was, and why Selena trusted her so much. We just see her pop out of nowhere. She is the reason why Selena's life and career was cut short, I would have liked to have seen the reasoning behind it. Was Yolanda a psychopath? Probably. For a movie that was about Selena, there was not much on the tragic loss of her.

I saw this movie a year after it came out, but lately I can't get it out of my head. Just a bad feeling, it's so sad. I hope some of these actors stay alert and wary with the heads of their crazy obsessed fan clubs.

Fan clubs are great for a celebrity, they push their brand and keep them relevant when the lights fade. But there are some that take it to another extreme, an unhealthy level, and the actor needs to stay vigilante and aware. Scary.

At the time a lot of fake stories about Selena were coming out and the family mostly just wanted to focus on her beautiful life and spirit rather than lament on her death. But I do agree there should've been a little more background on how Yolanda became entangled with the Quintanilla family.

Excellent points. I can understand people wanting more of the story regarding Yolanda. It still pisses me off, though, to see her (or the person playing her, rest her soul), so for me there's too much of her.

Years ago I saw an interview with Yolanda on TV and she was very much in denial about what she had done.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

I think they wanted it to be more of a "celebration of life" kind of thing-- I mean, this came out only two years after her death. Had it been produced much later, I can see whereas they would go about showing what happened in a less abstract manner, but I think the way they did it was tasteful, especially given the circumstances. A tribute film was not the place to explore Yolanda's twisted psyche.

Too cool for sküle

Like others have said I understand wanting to know more about that. And you can watch some documentaries on YouTube that are very informative. I like the movie the way it is. I don't want to see Yolanda unless she's being hit by a bat repeatedly.

The filmmakers didn't want the film to focus too much on the events leading up to Selena's death. They wanted to share her story of her family life and her achievements as a music artist.
