anyone think Selena's death was rushed.
They saved it for the last 5 minutes of this 3 hour movie (TV time)
I felt like they should have showed more.

Well, I think people close to Selena made the movie. I think her dad was a huge part of directing the movie. So, I don't think he would have wanted any messy scenes like that in the movie. It also probably would have been difficult portraying her last moments inside the hotel becuase what supposedly happen was that they argued over the lost money and Selena was going to fire her on the spot. But I get what you mean. They were on key with the rest of her life and then her death was just sudden.
shareI felt it was rushed but I guess they didn't want to focus too much on her death. The montage of the real Selena after the death scene is very touching though.
"This isn't a thimble, it's Turkish nipple armor."
i thinl the problem with this scene was no one knows what really happened between them that night. I would guess out of respect for the family..they would not have made the scene up and go with hollywood shocking drama like most movies do. Her brother, AB Jr. was a producer of this film..so they were probably very sensitive to the issue. It would have been nice if they had shown what happened to the woman, yolanda who shot her. Did she get arrested or indeed pull the trigger? I thinkt he scene of them recieving the news was so brutal and well done..brings me to tears everytime I watch this movie. You can really feel their loss. This woman was kind and loving to everyone she met..and I think that's what the movie was really suppose to be about. Chris Perez wrote a book called "To Selena, With Love"...I am hoping to read it. But maybe he may have an insight to what happened if your curious..but I doubt it. Their pain is not for our entertainment. That's why it was rushed probably.
shareThe movie was a celebration of her life, not her death. It was very important to them to tell the story of the happier and more positive side of her life rather than the end of it. If they were going to make a movie about her death, I think it should be one of those tv/movies that they show on Lifetime.

That was my take on it. I think the death scene was handled very appropriately because (most of this was already mentioned):
1. I don't think they wanted to shift a lot of focus on the murder. It was a tragedy, but that's not the main way I'd think her family would want her to be remembered.
2. No one really knows what actually happened before the shooting except Selena and Yolanda.
3. I saw the depiction as being more from the family's perspective: it was abrupt, shocking, a blur, etc. that just collapsed on them in the hospital waiting room. That scene was so moving.

Yes. More time should've been devoted to it, but I guess that was difficult to adequately do in a PG movie.
"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"
I think it was kept short and quickly over, so as not to glorify her murderess. I always belive that a good thing. It was a superb film with a perfect cast and Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos were truly outstanding in it

Thank God you weren't a part of the production crew. What were you looking for, a daytime soap-esque shouting match resulting in Yolanda firing blank rounds from a BB gun and J-Lo flailing her arms and "acting" like she has been critically wounded as ketchup squirts from her body?
I guess they figured it was too brutal to include in the movie

I heard that the family really wanted to focus on Selena & her life, not her murder & not her killer.
Makes sense to me. The press is for reporting crimes & criminals in detail.
This was Selena's story.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
