Ellie did not want her dad to be her "love partner" BEFORE the mom died. Yes, I know she killed her mom, but screwing her dad was not the motive.

shareEllie indeed killed her mother, as proven by her hiding the 'tragedy' mask under the house in the suitcase. Her sister, Inger, later found the bloody murder weapon in the closet in the house. Inger then killed her sister with the 'comedy' mask, although the movie first makes it seem like the neighbor, Lawson, killed her. But Lena, the new stepmother, discovers the truth at the very end.
