Without thinking about it much - what's with the ending? She didn't die so they could bluf a rich land owner into selling off a piece of his property to the town so the town could increase it's burial ground site.
If they were faking her death why try to hook her husband up with her sister?
And who did they bury?

Rosanna will die in the near future (that was no swindle). The bluff (fake death and burial) was ment to reserve a grave for her (beside her daughter's). nobody was buried. Their doctor wrote out a false death certificate (as he did before) and the coffin was left empty. When Rosanna will die in real her husband and his helpers will smuggle her body inside.
That the rich guy gives off a part of his land was unintended.

neviusia - Sorry, but I've watched this film countless times and Capestro finally selling off part of his land to the church to provide more room for the cemetery was TOTALLY intentional. That was the entire point of the phony death.
