Where is Pig Vomit today?

Anybody know? I know at the end of the movie they say he manages some mall somewhere. But he probably is not still there. That guy really does look like a pig. Are these two pics of the same guy (scroll down to the bottom of the first link and then about 1/3 way down on the 2nd link)- they do not look the same to me.

Guys like him are partly why radio sucks today. No eye for talent and they kill acts that are good.

Last I heard he was program director for Q107 in Toronto

reply

He is, and has been for a long time, working for Clear Channel. Regional Director I believe his title is, but he's in charge of various clear channel projects including live sports events. He's in the list of credits at the end of every cleveland browns radio broadcast, I believe he's listed as producer or executive producer but it's been 8 months since the last radio broadcast, hard to recall.

But to summarize, he's still in radio.

reply

GREAT performance by Paul Giamatti by the way, he makes the whole movie watchable!

reply

Yes, yes, yes. Giamatti is a great actor. Actually, I was stunned by Howard's acting as well.

Kevin is on the radio and he subs for people sometimes. like Jerry springer. and its funny because he introduces himself as "Pig Vomit" or virus. whatever day of the week it is.

I've actually had the chance to meet Kevin (Kenny, Pig Virus, whatever). He was cordial. I wanted to bring up Stern, but didn't want to ruffle any feathers.

I also liked how they took the first syllable of his first name and the last syllable of his last name and used "Kenny".

I seem to recall him playing a role in getting Howard Stern taken off the air in Canada, Q107. I don't know the details, it was a while ago now, but I do remember reading something about his involvement in the paper.

***POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILER***

Just a side note. I don't know if it has already been discussed here or not, but something funny about Pig Vomit. Ever notice how Pig Vomit curses more then anybody else in the movie? Constant swearing from him, funny because he was the main guy trying to censor Howard Stern. It makes Pig Vomit look like a hypocrite as well as an idiot. No idea how accurate that portrayal is or not, but either way, I thought it was great. Suttle, but intentional I'm sure.(Also how during Pig Vomit's rant at the end they censor him... awesome, I thought that was brilliant)

reply

The Pig Vomit character probably didn't care about profanoty specifically, he just didn't want Howard to do it on the air, because he Pig Vomit wanted to keep his job and not lose sponsors, so I did not find his cursing hypocritical in any notion

the real person is Kevin Metheny:

I have said it in my own way often here at CP. Now the words come from Robert Feder as he talks about WGN Radio rearranging the deck chairs.

Many if not all of (program director Kevin “Pig Virus”) Metheny’s moves appear designed to anger and alienate WGN’s traditional listeners and break the bonds of trust between the station and its audience that date back more than 80 years. (“Truthfulness is only an added benefit when it happens to drop into your lap,” Metheny once informed his staff.) By that measure, he seems to be succeeding brilliantly.

WGN Radio is recklessly ignoring the most faithful fans in all of radio. In doing so they are going to cook their own goose. With the recent changes that were announced this past week that are on top of the other short-sifted ones made previously some predictions can be made from the CP blog. WGN will NOT get the prized demographics that they are seeking, the station will not make money, and WGN Radio will lose the faithful audience that sustained them all these decades.

Now that is something that ‘Pig Virus” Metheny can take home and show his kids! Wow dad when I grow up I never want to be like you!

He died last October.
