LOL...Ohh, Hollywood...

I had to laugh at Jack Nicholson's character. Hollywood sculpts these perfect bigot scenarios/characters to please the pc masses. A white, hetero, gentile man insulting the kind, non-bigoted gays, blacks, women, jews etc. Hollywood's "protected" groups. They went through all these groups to have Jack insult or offend them, and they always react with such decency. Seriously?

Come on, Hollywood; I've seen members of the aforementioned groups in real life start the insults and show their intolerance in public and privately. But I guess it's easier and more popular to always portray the sexist bigot as a the white, Christian, hetero male. Safe and easy...as usual. Yaaawn.

These pc-obsessed times are getting old.

True enough. But they got away with it, because Nicholson was so good that no one really cared to notice the stereotyping. I, for one, do agree that safe and easy was a cowardly move, though. I mean if you can't take liberties and break rules with a romantic comedy, when can you do it?

The film was trying to portray that he is a dick, not that anyone can be a dick regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation.

Whatever the intentions of the movie makers were, it was still a great little gem of a movie.
