Just saw this racist movie

What a racist propaganda hollywood movie this it. It's crazy cause when I first watched it in 97' I was too naive to catch it. I love how they make Martin Lawrence's character a sympathetic figure. Aw, he's black so he can't find a job. Aw, he has two kids to take care of and he wants them to do their homework. Ya that's right, so it's okay for him to ROB PEOPLE AT GUNPOINT. I know it's just a lighthearted comedy but this movie is so over the top it's offensive. Oh and how Tim Robbins is the "white guy" who can't fight so the cool "black guy" laughs at him. The white guy freaks out cause he thinks got shot. LOL VERY FUNNY HOLLYWOOD WRITERS. I "get it, the white guys is a nerd and a whip right? Right? Haha, what a joke. Crazy how many hardcore racist movies there are going right now. I just happened to watch this one tonight.

And who's idea was it to have the security guard dance for an hour. One of the most cringe worthy moments in a movie a have seen in awhile. Whoever wrote that in the script should have been fired and black listed from Hollywood.

Stay AWAY from this movie if you want to vomit on your carpet, wood floor, ect...

OUT.

I'm not sure how you meant it as I'm not a native speaker but I also had a feeling that this movie was racist. For a European who does not know too much about US employment statistics, the message of this movie was this: if I run into a black man in the gettho, loaded with guns, he probably has a diploma(sp), also he is a loving father, but for him the diploma is merely a waste because we (white people) won't employ him anyway. So this is basically our fault.

Is this correct?

reply

Yes. Exactly.

Luigi, I wouldn't take advice from this guy. He can't even spell etc correctly. We actually have this controversial thing that in the US I don't agree with called affirmative action. Affirmative action is where businesses have to hire a certain number of non Caucasian people to fill their "quota", so black people have "equal opportunity". This is to curb racism during the hiring process because many companies wouldn't hire people because of their skin color, and some black people have not had the same educational opportunities as whites. While I agree that's messed up and there should be a way to stop this, I believe affirmative action is not the answer.

I strongly disagree with affirmative action because many white workers who are vastly more qualified for the particular job they are applying for may get passed over because the employer is forced to hire a person of color even though that person may be less or under-qualified. I believe the job should go to the most qualified person.

haha, retard...speak ENGLISH. you fail.

Cinema

I noticed you mentioned the negative qualities that made Tim Robbins look inept, and Martin cool. But I noticed you didn't mention the stereotypical role of a black car-jacker living in the ghetto. Nor did you mention Nick Beam being successful in life. If you want to cry racism, make sure you tell both sides or it makes you look suspect

I am speaking English....Do you not understand large or complicated words??? Idiot.

You claim to be against unqualified people being hired over qualified people based on skin color, but that scenario was not only status quo for centuries in this country, but is still in effect today. You say this is messed up, and it is, yet AA has been around for how many decades, and those opposing it haven't come up with any alternative. Now that's messed up.

The white man's burden is a terrible thing.

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

reply

I 100% agree with you. Thank you for making this post because I'm just now looking over it and I also thought I should have had some alternative to Affirmative Action. However it's VERY hard to try to find an answer on how to fix what AA has become.

I was first thinking maybe if you can prove your lineage to slavery you could get a special full ride scholarship to some great schools. But that seems too time and resource consuming, not to mention it's racist.

I mean some great thinker really needs to come up with a solution to Affirmative Action. It is not only hurting white men, but it's hurting women and men of every nationality besides black men.

Affirmative Action hurts not only white men, but person that isn't a black male.

First off it's a popcorn comedy movie, not a social commentary film but this movie is not racist at all - if anything it's racially truthful and unafraid to show it like it is.
Nobody said it was "OK" to rob people at gunpoint - that's your interpretation - and the movie clearly makes the point that there are better ways to live with Martin looking into getting a job in security/electronics at the end.
it might be cliched that the white guy in a suit can't fight but the black guy from the streets can - but guess what it's also REALITY. GUys who grew up on the streets had to fight whereas white smart guys can get around not fighting by being smart.
Stereotypes exist for a reason - they are derived from reality.
lastly, the security guard dancing and lip-syncing to music was a hilarious moment, and also clever, playing on the concept of what people do when they think nobody's watching. It also plays on the irony of a stoic tough security guard having a double life as a guy who sings along to love songs which is an inspired character moment. Sounds like you have no sense of humor at all...

Well said

Some trivia: the guy playing the dancing security guard is Steve Oedekerk, the writer/director of this movie.

You are now spoiled.

Jackie Chan is probably racist, too, for being all Kung-Fu and what.

To the OP - I can only assume that Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins were responsible for gang-raping your grandmother. There is no other explanation for your delusional and completely insane analysis of this movie.

That being said, I didn't find this movie remotely racist.
