GO in the film
I think that I've read somewhere that Mr.Oldman(like Hitchcock) appears somewhere in the Nil By Mouth, is it so? Cause I couldn't really "grep" him out.

shareI heard that he is the guy that is sitting with Ray and Mark when Mark tells his "it's not going to be one of THOSE parties is it?!" story.
You only see the back of Oldman's head throughout.
"Now no more shenanigans, no more tomfoolery, no more ballyhoo"
I think that gary oldman is the guy who comes out of the laundrette when bill and danny have a fight with the guy outside and crack the window. The man who comes out and looks up and down the street looks an awful lot like him.
shareYeah I thought that when I watched it.
shareI just saw it for the first time and didn't know Gary was in it. But when I watched I thought the man at the bar when Gran sang might be him. It doens't really look like him, but he's such a chameleon! Another possibility is the man in the car outside the laundry, the one who tells Billy not to yell at him.
What an amazing film. One of the few I'd consider buying.
he's not in it at all.
shareHe is in it. He's the guy who comes out of the laundrette looking annoyed after there has been a kick off outside and the lads have run off. He's wearing a kind of ethnic beanie hat if I remember correctly.
shareYeah when I saw it for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time I thought that the guy coming out of the laundrette with the bomber jacket and beanie hat on was Oldman coz it looks a lot like him but am I right in thinking that this character- although no dialogue from him- is credited in the end credits?
I might be wrong but I don't think it is Gary in a cameo though I really wanted it to be. The character who comes out of the laundry defo looks like him but very vaguely--it's the distinctive eyes. But then the Hollywood actor Timothy Hutton looks like Oldman too I think.
"You can't fire me I'm the bass player. Besides Paul wouldn't have it.... Paul... Paul?"
Gary Oldman does do a Hitchcock style cameo in Nil By Mouth. If you are watching the DVD, you will find him in scene number 9. It's entitled Kath. A little more than three minutes into the scene you'll see a shot of a small black and white television. On the television screen are two men doing an interview. Gary Oldman is the man on the left side of the screen. You might have to zoom in to get a better look but it is definitely him. If you listen really hard you'll hear his voice too.
sharecant believe no one has noticed this so far but when billy goes to buy drugs off a bloke he is playing with his son at a park. when he asks for a pound for a bus the guy shouts for his kid 'gary' and they walk off. as they are walking off the kid turns around and glares at billy. Check out his face and voila ! Gary Oldman
