i thought it would be a typical romantic movie to watch with a happy ending with jules and micheal etc, but he married cameron diaz still!! wtf?! does anyone else agree??!!

shareyeah, but that's what you thought was going to happen. i liked how the ending suprised you.
shareI think it should have ended with Cameron Punching Julia Roberts in the face and both her and Michael Kick Julia robert's sorry ass out of the wedding, and that frienship terminated Forever and Ever.

truly a morbid proposition for a date-night, lighthearted romantic comedy...
:-)
No, I thought it the ending was perfect, and the reason I like this movie so much is specifically *because* if the ending. Self-help books etc tell us all the time we don't need to be with someone else in order to be happy, and it's nice to finally see that in a movie.
shareI liked the ending (especially the scene in the ladies room, lol). Juliana was an annoying creature...she belonged with the gay guy.
shareexcuse me? why should an annoying person "belong" with a gay guy?

It was the classic scenario: "girl doesn't want guy, but does not want anyone else to have him".
Hey, don't knock masturbation! It's sex with someone I love.
-Alvy Singer, Annie Hall (1977)
I really liked the ending, and I knew it was going to end like that. Kimmy was sooo much more likable than Julianne, and it would just be wrong, if she ended up with Michael.

Alas, my friend...
Never forget the outlaws!
I said *gay guy* cuz I could not remember his name....he understood her ability to be annoying but he still liked her as a friend...that's the kind of guy she belonged with.
shareIt was the scene in the ladies room...that made you think that Cameron and Julia should have run off together
(like Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson did in 'Dr T and the Women.') And if you disagree, then you're probably not gay.
Why "should" it have a different ending? It had the ending it was intended to have.

The ending was perfect. I am so sick of most American movies having an unrealistic happy ending.
I was just talking about this with my bf after watching Tears of the Sun and how of course Bruce Willis' character lives.
Movies like Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood do not have happy endings and well, are actually good because it's realistic. Heck, even Sin City, Bruce's character dies...it just seems right that he did and if he lived it wouldn't have been as good nor have that good of an affect.
I loved the ending as well, Jules and Michael were only meant to be best friends, it could never work out between them otherwise.
I read in the Trivia that Jules was supposed to meet a guy at Michael and Kimmy's wedding but I'm glad she didn't because it just wouldn't be the ending that this movie deserves.
I liked George and her dancing the night away! "Forever and ever..." lol
Such a good movie!
**I'm gonna go change my feet**
Well... after all, Julia Roberts IS the bad guy, no matter how in love she is. She tryed to ruined her best friend's wedding people!!!
She shouldn't end with Dermot Mulroney!
She was the villan and it was good she ended alone!
I thought the ending was more than perfect.
It was brilliant.
I have watched countless romantic comedies that all have the same ending (Honestly, do I need to name them? Made of Honor, 50 First Dates, Just Friends, Maid in Manhattan...etc.) and it's boring. It's simply predictable. I love that Michael ended up marrying Kimmy. I thought it was the best romantic comedy next to 27 Dresses. :)
"You guys are wack!"
"Wiggety-wack?"
"No, just the regular kind..."
R-M/Hitwoman <3
I hated 27 Dresses because it was so predictable. It was so obvious she was going to end up with James Marsden.
I found 50 First Dates bitter sweet and loved it. She never got better, but the guy still loved her no matter what and tried to make it work.
I think the whole moral to the story is that like George says "What the Hell...Life goes on" she can still be happy without marrying Michael. They will always be best friends...and it was never in the stars for then to marry, like Julianne said "Luckily I woke up, and i realized the world is just as it should be." She wasn't supposed to marry Michael...thats why i love this movie so much... it may not be the happiest ending, but the characters can still be happy!
shareI was unsatisfied with the ending. Of course I realise that it would look urealistic if Jules and Michael ended up together, but I can't help it - when I watch a movie I hope to feel relief and satisfaction, when it ends. "My Best Friend's Wedding"'s ending was rather depressing.
shareI usually don't like romantic comedies, but I like this one, and I think part of was the ending. Jules behaved just like any rom-com protagonist (crazy and despicably) but this movie was different because they actually recognized her actions as such, and they didn't pay off in the end.
shareI'm sorry but I'm very biased. I have NEVER liked Cameron Diaz, so when I saw this movie, I wanted Julia Roberts to end up with the guy. I don't care about her flaws. :)
shareI always liked the ending because they mention the affair they will have once a year. I thought this line was bitter sweet, and, I believe, true.
well, the first time I saw the movie and relaised jules would end up single, I was a littel dissapointed, but then rupert shows up(ruperts charachter I mean, dont remember his name.)
and talkes on the phone, and starts dancing...
well that scene makes it cind of okay that she dident end in some guys arms.
I think the ending says, something like its possible to be happy witouth a boyfreind, and life dosent always end up the way you liked it too.
I think its nice that a romcom, has a ending like this and I think more of them should.
many romcoms, give the message that if you dont have a boyfriend youre a looser, and should be depressed. after seeing this movie I think single people get a feeling that theirs a chance they can find someone too.
usally when I go out of the cinema after seeing a romcom, "I think nice movie "and "I want a boÿfriend".
aftert seeing this I think " good movie, " and " I`m not a looser for beeing single, boyfriends can wait, waths the reush anyway."
Lea.
No, by the end of the movie I was HOPING Michael wouldn't do something stupid like end up in bed with Jules.
Kimmie sort of won me over.
*Christianity is not a religion, its a relationship with Christ.*
The whole movie I sort of had it in my head that Julia would end up winning the guy. She was messed up, and deceitful, and dishonest, but she was so flawed because she really did love him, and it just took losing someone to wake her up and make her realize that she was in love with her best friend. So it did make me sad that she didn't end up with him. I know it ended "how it should have", but I always seem to root for Julia's character despite knowing that she will end up without him.
