Does anyone else think this marriage will eventually end in divorce?

I'm not trying to be cynical, it just doesn't seem like Michael loves Kim enough. He has too many leftover feelings for Julianne, though it wouldn't work out with her either. I just think when you're really in love you're not choosing between two women because the choice is obvious. It seems like Michael would benefit from a fresh start, finally putting his feelings for Julienne to bed and finding the one woman who can knock Julienne off that pedestal.

I think Kimmie's family and her more ordered life will bore him to tears. She will also try and restrict him too much and how would Kimmie ever allow him to see Julianne again?

One of the things I liked in this movie was the gentle subversion of it. In a movie like this where Michaels character is played by a woman, she’s more like an avatar into which the two guys imbue personality and virtues, but possesses little in terms of being interesting as a person.

Michael wasn’t all that interesting as a person. In different ways both women filled him up with their own desires and expectations. It wasn’t that much about him at all. Though I think Kimmy was closer to seeing him for who he was than Jules.

I would bet that within a year of marriage, Michael and Jules would be having an affair. They would not stop seeing each other as friends and given Michael's job traveling, he would have lots of opportunities to see Jules. Jules would wait and at some point, Michael and Kimmie have a bad spot in their marriage and there is Jules to save the day.. well, to offer Michael comfort.

At that point they would see each other regularly and Jules would accept that Michael would remain married to Kimmie.

Someone should make a sequel.
