Way different watching this now than it was as a kid.

When MIB came out in 97 I was 12 years old and I thought Will Smith was the coolest dude ever. I saved up and went to Wal Mart and paid in change to buy the soundtrack so I could listen to the MIB song over and over again (This is embarrasing) I just watched it on Blu Ray as one of my Fathers day presents now as a 26 year old, lol. Now Will Smith is really annoying and I laughed at his stupid clothes and bad dialog..... Tommy Lee Jones is the cool one to me now, lol. It's still a good movie though for what it is. Did anybody else do the same thing?

Great point. Kids can watch it for Will Smith. Adults watch it for TLJ, and everybody can enjoy the rest of the movie it's just light hearted fun entertainment

Man, are you me? When I was a kid I thought he was so cool too, had his Independence Day poster on my wall and everything. Now I am also 26, and feel the same way. Jones seems like the badass, while Smith with his constant sneer and swagger makes me want to punch him out.

I didn't use the term "lol". What a strange post.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm only 17 but I feel the same way about Will Smith as I did when I first saw this film. I never thought he was 'the coolest dude ever', I just thought he was a really charismatic and funny character. Maybe it's just because my biggest heroes at the time were Luke Skywalker and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 but that's just how I felt. I still think Men in Black is easily Smith's best film during the 90s and is my personal favourite of his. But comparing his perfomance in this to his more recent work is definitely an indicator to how much his persona's changed. One of the reasons I think Men in Black 3 didn't work as well.

Bad dialogue?? This movie has great dialogue.

And isn't this the way we are all supposed to feel about J? He's a headstrong rookie who gets it right sometimes but generally looks like a dunce next to K..
