I remember seeing this film in the theater when I was 14 and it still holds up today as a beautiful love story. The music, photography, acting, everything was excellent!
Sentimental Mood is my favorite song b/c of this movie. I doubt another movie could show the extremes of love as accurately as this film.
i agree 1000%. this is my most favorite movie of all time. damn you were 14? i was 21 when it came out. i remember going to see it with a friend during spring break in college my 3rd year. i have not seen another movie that i have liked more.
I have to agree, this was just a very smooth movie from beginning to end, and it's one of my all-time favorite's too. Lorenz Tate is one of the most underrated actors in the business; black or white or any other race.
Like everyone else on this board, I too am thoroughly enamored with this movie. It is definitely in my top 3 movie picks. This is the one movie that I can watch again and again, back to back, and never, ever, get tired of it.
One of my favorite movies as well. Too bad the writer/director has elected not to continue his career. I would have loved to see what else he had to say.
I was wondering what happened to him. This movie was awesome! I wish he had written more, but it my opinion he's made his mark on the industry with this one-of-a-kind gem.
I like the neo-soul, jazzy, poetry-reading, rainy atmosphere of the film. So classy! I like all the conversations among the characters. It was serious, humorous, and very romantic. It's a wonderful film in general and also stands out as a classic among modern African-American films.
I bought a used copy but I'm thinking of donating it to my library and buying a fresh new copy for myself!
"This isn't exactly the first grave we've dug. You still think I'm a catch?" - Sam Winchester
My absolute favorite number 1 film of all time. Surpasses Kubricks films and other greats I admire and study. Remarkable work.
I believe the writer/director wrote another film and possibly due to the events on that project he retired. Lifechanging experiences of troubled issues. Same thing happened to Frank Darabont after breaking his neck on Indiana Jones 4.
He did however shoot a music video for City High I believe. It was a great music video. And having a great love for the work of Hype and X, respect him for throwing his hat in the ring and taking a stab at directing again...
