One of the greatest love stories of all times!!!

I am not person who watches alot of love flicks but I am somewhat of a hopeless romanitc deep down inside and I guess thats why this movie really appealed to me so much I mean I can't say enough positve things about this film it is just that damn good and not to mention the soundtrack is off the hook and is one that will probably never ever be topped!!! The whole setting of the film to me is what helped make this movie a classic, it just has that Neo-Soul feel to it (which just happens to be my favorite genre of music) and lets not forget the performances that everyone in the film gave, superb!!! I don't think any of them will ever have as good a role in as good a movie as this one!!! Ever since I have seen this movie I have looked endlessly for other films that could've possibly measured up to this one or atleast been close but none have, so for that reason this movie will always remain my favorite urban classic love story!!!

I'm too old to get "whupped" over a movie, but this one did it. I saw it when it first came out in 97' and I purchased the movie last month. I've seen it at least 6 times since. The writing is perfection. The cast was a once in a lifetime ensemble. They were all ready for it at the right time. Tell me I'm not obsessing. I'm gonna have to check up on the writer/director, Theodore Witcher and see if his other works are on lifes pulse.
I truly appreciated the beautiful romance of black folks and so many intricacies of human emotions in friendships, likes, loves and lust.

It's a shame that a movie like this didn't get more attention. Truly an Adult, classy, intelligent, well-written love story!

I totally agree with you! I remember the first time I saw love jones. It was a Friday back in '97 and I was bored to tears at work. I went to the nearby mall on my lunch break and I bought a ticket to see this movie. That was the best lunch break I've had in my life! Me and this other girl walked out of the theater in tears! I bought the movie as soon as it hit the stores at Best Buy. I can't say enough about how talented the cast was or how intelligent they were. It was such a well written film and a classic on my list.

Between this movie and my other favorite, The Best Man, I've been hoping that someone would do another black film like this. I can safely say that it seems a lot of us are starving for these quality love stories that feature black characters in a humanly positive way. There was nothing stereotypical about this film at all.

I just want to personally thank Theodore Witcher for making such a film. I wish you'd make more!

I absolutely LOVE this movie and agree whole-heartedly with the OP!!!! It's a classic love and story and quite possibly the best I've ever seen. It seemed so real to me because I felt like I knew these people in real life and I cared about these characters.

This is the kind of movie Tyler Perry needs to be taking his cues from as a filmmaker. This is better than any of his movies.
