Why did Savon and his wife separate?

This is hands down one of my favorite movies ever. I really thought that I knew and understood all aspects of the movie. As I was watching it, I realized that I didn't know the reason for Savon and his wife's separation. In early scenes they were entertaining and cuddling and looking like a great couple. Was it about money? He does mention something about the kitchen. I don't think that people separate over a kitchen. What are your thoughts regarding the separation??

I may not have all the answers, but I do have all the questions.

I always assumed that they just seemed to have a lot of arguments about money and normal things that married couples argue about. And more of them just growing apart mostly. I don't think they specify what they were separating about about that's just what I assumed.
