Rain, makes things grow and gives hope?

There's a symbolism component to it -- sexual -- but mostly it was the movie gods. It was the rain-wettest couple of months in years when we shot the movie... and then non-rain scenes had to have rain so they would match. So in the end Chicago wound up looking like Seattle.

no actually I read in a artical that they never intended to shoot some scenes in the rain, but during the shooting, they had very bad weather, and they didnt have money nor time to reschedule them

Everybody gave some good interpretations. I liked the rainy scenes. I thought they added a certain romantic element.










Heaven will be underbooked.

Rain symbolizes washing away. Nina had a previous relationship that washed away. Rain brings new life. She starts a new life with Darius. Rain clears your vision and cleans the air. That happened in the end...

The movie's look came through a confluence of ideas by myself and my team, and the month we shot was the wettest Chicago had seen in years. Rain was written into the script, but then every other day was raining so, out of my control, the movie ended up looking like Seven.
