Who was this guy and what was he doing, the interrogators talked about someone thinking he'd be a Granny Smith apple, and skinned his own legs to the bone?
It had something to do with drinking, but I forgot the word itself...
absinthe is the word, er... drink. can't remember the guys name, i don't think Kennesaw actually reveals it.
basically, James was explaining how his drink of choice was absinthe. at that point Kennesaw retells a story about the time he got called to a scene with a "guy" that went on an absinthe binge and by the end convinced himself that he was a Granny Smith apple and had skinned himself with an apple peeler.
basically, the purpose of the story is to debunk James' own admitted use and addiction to absinthe.
In one scene James is pouring a drink over a sugar cube. That is how absinthe was used. Many drinkers had a fancy spoon with slits in the bottom, You would then pour the absinthe over a lump of dugar into the glass. Absinthe was bitter and the sugar cut the taste. Some drinkers had fancy silver spoons like rich coke heads had tiny silver spoons hung around their neck years ago.
It became legal again in the US in 1997. Until then people bought it over the internet from other countries or brought it back. It is made from wormwood, a herb, and there is still controversy over the effects it has on the brain.
