what it should have been called

This movie should have been named "Screwing your friends and neighbors"

That's ridiculous.

Except figuratively, "Screwing Your Friends and Neighbors" would not be a good title. Ben Stiller's character found himself unable to literally "screw" his friend/neighbor due to impotence; and the other husband was so sexually dysfunctional, he could not properly screw his own wife, at least not to the point of his own orgasm, and had to masturbate afterward.

reply

Hey, good one. Oh, wait. No, it isn't.

"Is it me?" YES! Classic. Haha. I love this movie.

"Aries" because of all their names.

"I don't want to be motivated by desperation. I want to be motivated by inspiration."

It should've been called "Unrealistic Pretentious Jargon" or "Incomplete Sentences" (since no one in the film is able to put their thoughts into complete sentences -- too many conversations that consist entirely of phrases like "I mean...", "But you didn't...", "Why did you...?" etc.). I don't talk like that, no one I know talks like that, so if they were going for some type of "realism" with the dialogue, then maybe I'm hanging out at the wrong cafes or art galleries. I've never heard people talk like that so incessantly unless they're playing Taboo (the game of unspeakable fun!). Or that show "Pyramid".

And before some LaBute fan gets on my case and tries to teach me to "appreciate the art that is this film"... no, it's not that I "don't get it" (I do, probably better than you). I loved "In the Company of Men", and am a fan of pretty much every actor in this one. As a matter of fact, the only aspect of the movie that I liked is the actors' performances (and they should get due credit for elevating the material so much). I just think the movie went downhill real fast, and was written and executed poorly for something of such potential.

How is that "ironic"? In my experience, most people who throw around that word have no idea what it really means.

get off this board. go find some threads that are on your level. this one takes a little bit more smarts

reply

First of all, if you think this board takes "smarts" then you're exactly the kind of person that eats up this sort of pablum with a smile on their face. As a matter of fact, a quick glance at your own posting history (and the bizarre lack of punctuation in any of your posts) makes your reply to my post in itself seem...well, ironic.

Secondly, it's very easy to call someone unintelligent or tell them to "get off this board" when you're sitting behind a computer. It's really not that intimidating, and it never works. Not to mention that it was totally uncalled for, unnecessary, and irrelevant.

Don't get me wrong -- it's cool if you think you've got more "smarts" than me (should I call you professortt77, perhaps, since you so 'put me in my place'?)...how does one respond to that anyway? I could call you stupid, but where does that get us? In one of those online "flame wars" that I see all over these boards (usually started by someone like you, for that matter)? No thanks.

Here's what I will say: These are boards made available to the public (i.e. anyone that can take a few minutes to create an IMDb account), and unless you're an administrator, you don't have the right to tell anyone to "get off". If you disagree with someone's comment, there's no need to insult them. That kind of behavior only makes you seem childish...and unfortunately, that's all you accomplished with your post, because I'm still here.

Quite a one trick pony, aren't you?

You're clearly a troll, so I will no longer encourage you by replying to your posts.

In other words, "End thread".

You two seem meant for each other. *Rolling Eyes*

I agree that the film title is very misleading, boring and mundane. It doesn't sum up the movie at all. How about "Sauna Confessions"? "Depressing Affairs"? "Three Men and Three Women"? I also agree with "Is it Me". This thread could have been more interesting if most of the posts above weren't deleted. I missed out on some interesting posts.

I specifically reminded her - bedside table! On the Kangaroo!
