You are incorrect. "Most movies" are 90-100 minutes long. Not no 2/5 hours, so get your statistics right. Movies that long are generally superhero or action movies and they're in the minority. The standard length of crime thrillers and dramas are nowhere near this length and there's more of those movies than anything. The OP is right. This movie dragged way too long and could have been about 100 minutes, maybe 110 at the most. That whole mall scene where we see different perspectives of the same event play out was unnecessary and could have been handled better. This fan edited the scene a lot better in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqxQnqclH-g. This is how it should have been.
The movie also suffers from too much talking, not enough action, most characters like Melanie, Sharonda, and Louis are wasted. The movie is 154 minutes long and yet these characters have nothing exciting to do or have LITTLE roles? Something isn't right there. Jackie doesn't even have much to do herself and wields a gun in one scene yet the marketing makes her out to be this Foxy Brown type of character and is nothing of the sort. Overall, the movie was dull and needed better tightening and character development. The movie spent too much time trying to be a homage, it forget to tell a proper story with well rounded characters, but that's another topic.
Back to as far as the length goes just face it dude, the movie was overly long for a rather simple plot that could have still been beneficial at 100-110 minutes. If this movie was going to be THIS long, then there should have been much more happening as far as action and characters not sitting around talking like they're bored and waiting to be called to do something. -_-
