Does anyone notice that the book appears numerous times at the Hoods' house? They actually have two copies of the book, one on the shelf above Ben and Elena's bed when they go to bed and the other on top of the living room TV when Wendy's watching it. It's a pretty fitting book to make reference to in this film since that book and the animated film share a haunting moody tone with The Ice Storm in its reflection of nature's surroundings and the theme of death.

I noticed that too. And I did thibk they are similar in tone.

One of my all-time favorite books. Just watching The Ice Storm now, and will make a point to dig out my copy of WD; it's been years since I read it.

I love the moodiness of this flim. It stays with me for a few days after I watch it. The music is amazing, too.
