Overlooked at the Oscars?

How was this not nominated for any Oscars? Should have got nods for a number of acting categories, director, picture, score, screenplay just to name a few.

This is a great question without a great answer. Over at Hitfix Guy Lodge wrote a piece about the film's lack of awards and one of the commenters noted that Fox did not run any media campaign to remind Academy voters about the movie since Fox was championing their hits Titanic and The Full Monty. A media campaign may have helped voters remember the movie/performances or even prompted a second viewing if a free screener showed up.

Or maybe everything was going to get run over by Titanic no matter what.

But you are correct that the movie deserved a nod in several categories.

I don't think it deserved any nominations. The acting was mediocre, the screenplay wasn't great and the direction was nothing special. The score was good but not Oscar worthy.

Oscar worthy?

They screw it up just about every year.

Well, clearly you're insane.
