In the days before cellphones, how could Paul know that Mikey was dead? So then why did he act so unsurprised when his family picked him up at the train station and his dad Ben started crying in the car at the very end of the movie? It didn't appear that anyone told him in person either...

sharePaul definitely didn't know why his father was crying. When he was picked up from the train station, hey walked straight to the car with no convoersation and Ben's emotions got out of control in the car. Wendy was crying too and Elena was trying to comfort them. Paul seemed to just sit there get confused because his entire family was a wreck. I don't blame them though.
