not lyrical or poetic - the exorcist of middle class suburbia movies

It is quite laughable that the Emperor with New Clothes is on full
effect with the response to this movie. Some even calling it "lyrical, poetic - ..." etc.

It's not the tempo, mood, tone of the film that renders this a substantial miasma of
shallow, meaninglessness and canaanite mess, it's that many see this as a example of
relative American existence. And reflect it in their own lives. This is the kind of low rung, immoral,
shiny, entertainment that hollywood is so good at making. They are experts in this field and
some have taken the bait that this is somehow profound and as to what baby boomers have excelled in and normalized for the
next generations. What they excel in and what this film reproduces is not and poetic and meaningful.

Just because something is shiny doesn't make it valuable.
This movie is the equivalent to the overall effect of what the exorcist gave to the sense of existence - dread, despair and evil.
The reality is that many are not bowing down to the idols of self gratifying malaise of narcissistic adultery, promiscuity and un-checked egotism. The movie tried to say something un-judgmentally about these very things but because of it's hollow base - created a vacuum displaying its own canaanite perversity.
