It's almost shocking how good she was as a teenage actress here and in Girl with the Pearl Earring, and yet now seems to have not a morsel of that talent left. Pity that happens so often to child/teen actors.

She did not seem to forget her role, however, because in 2006, while volunteering for a certain children's hospital, I was told that she made a very nice donation (not a monetary donation) to our hospital, so perhaps her role as the amputee Grace made a lasting impression on her...
Very true though about child actors - with the exception of Melissa Gilbert and a few others, not many continue on with their acting, probably because they were pressured too much as children...

Scarlett Johansson is a terrific actress. Good scripts do not grow on trees. It takes special insight to find a great character to fit into a story roll. There are many attractive actresses in her age group who draw customers into the theaters. Good blockbuster movies make money. Once you make the A-list as an actor the cash flow pressure must be almost unbearable. Concessions to the dollar cause compromises in the art. A few like Robert Redford,Tom Hanks, and Myrle Streep are fortunate to find the right balance.

shareScarlett is a young actress and will have many good and bad performances in her career. Her beauty will ensure she has attention of casting directors and as she matures, I look forward to seeing her develop and grow in the acting field. I don't think she has drained the talent since this film.

she is still very talented but it's hard to find good scripts and it's even harder to turn those good scripts into good movies. In my opinion, she always rises to the occaison even when the movie fails her.

She gets offered a lot of movies because the producers want someone with an awesome body, and a lot of those roles are not real well written.
I thought she was pretty good in a laid-back role in "We Bought A Zoo," which did not depend on her being world-class smoking hot. She was still very hot and nice-looking but the movie did not revolve around her walking around in skin-tight outfits.

She was excellent in all three Woody Allen movies she was in, i.e. "Match Point", "Scoop" and "VickyChristinaBarcelona". It is quite a feat in itself to be invited to star in that many Woody Allen movies.
She made a compelling Black Widow in "Avengers". She was very good in "The Other Boleyn Girl". What about "Lost in Translation" and "Hitchcock"?

guess i am in the minority here... I am a big fan of hers, but thought she did not do her best work in this (of course she was pretty young here).
