What You Don't Know

The house for Home Alone 1 (and the beginning of 2 as well) is located at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, IL. The Home Alone 3 house is located at 3026 Normandy in Evanston, IL. Both Winnetka and Evanston are northern suburbs of Chicago and are located along the lakefront of Lake Michigan as well. However, Evanston is closer to Chicago itself than Winnetka is. Evanston, in fact, borders the city of Chicago. Winnetka is a good two suburbs north of Evanston.

According to my Rand McNally Road Atlas, if you were to take Lake Shore Drive north of "The Loop", eventually US Highways 14 and 41 both veer off to the left (west and northwest) in the northern part of the city of Chicago but if you turn northbound onto Sheridan Road, you will go through the northeast corner of Chicago (past Loyola University and Loyola Mundelin College) and a couple of miles or so later, you will cross the city line into Evanston. You will pass several more colleges (including Northwestern University) and Evanston Hospital. After that, you will cross another city line and end up in Wilmette. Wilmette happens to be the community in which the Home Alone church scenes were shot at (in Home Alone 1, that is). Continue for another couple of miles to the north and then you enter the city limits of Winnetka. Again, according to my road atlas, you can follow Sheridan Road all the way through, even as far north as Highland Park, possibly within site of Lake Michigan. Anyone who knows Chicago really well can correct me if I'm wrong about Sheridan Road; I'm just going off of a map here.

So anyway, as you can see, there's no way that Kevin McCallister and Alex Pruitt can be neighbors in the Home Alone stories; they're at least a good 5 miles apart or better. Two communities apart (with Wilmette being in the middle) and several neighborhoods apart and possibly even a good few school districts apart or better.

Sorry, marcvalenzuela, but there's just no way it was possible for Kevin and Alex to know each other unless John Hughes and/or Chris Columbus would have made it possible when Home Alone 3 came out.
