was this originally meant to be a Home Alone sequel?

Does anybody know if this was originally meant to be a sequel to Home Alone, or if maybe it was originally written with a different title, and then the studio chose to title it "Home Alone 3" to get people interested in seeing it?

I read on Wikipedias page for this movie that the producers originally wanted an older Kevin to babysit a younger cousin. However, there is no citation for that fact, and besides, I don't think that kind of plot would fit the Home Alone movies.

If I had made this movie, I would have had an older Kevin become invovled with crime. Since he defeated the Wet Bandits twice, he would have been a more challenging robber for a kid since he would have known what a kid would be capable of doing to robbers. Or if I had to write this and not include Kevin I would have at least brought back Harry and Marv, assuming that the actors would want to appear in it. Harry and Marv versus a new kid would have been good, and given the movie more of a conenction than just a name-only sequel.

Here is an interesting fact: Home Alone 3 was originally wanted to be filmed back to back with Home Alone 2 by Chris Columbus and John Hughes. However, the studio did not want to. I wonder what the plot was going to be for Home Alone 3 had it been filmed back to back with 2?

That's the same thing I wonder about if the addams family reunion had been filmed with alot of the same cast as Addams Family Values, and the third problem child movie.

I never heard that before. I wonder why they wouldn't have wanted to do that. Home Alone was the biggest movie of 1990 how could they have said no to making 2 more?

Lets put a SMILE on that face!

Because that would have meant that they'd have to deal with Culkin's father for twice as long. He was a nightmare to deal with on set and was one of the main reasons why Culkin took an early retirement the first chance he got.

Why would Kevin want a life of crime? I can imagine him growing up and involved on security systems.

Home Sweet Home Alone brought that up.

Macaulay gave up acting at 14 to get rid of his father.
