There would be a third original on the way I think, Kevin (Macaulay) was only 10 in the 2nd, so maybe 3 years later he may cone back for revenge: Home Alone 3: Its Personal

The only reason why Macaulay didn't return is because he was too old for the role. It even says it in the trivia.
