This movie is not set at Christmas time! It must be set after Christmas - why else would Mrs. Hess have a Christmas tree at the end of her driveway? The camera even shows it and several others - tossed at the end of the driveway and waiting to be picked up for trash!
shareThis movie is the only Home Alone movie that doesn't take place during Christmas as you can read in the Trivia. It seems to take place in January shortly after Christmas break. Mr. Jernigan even says to the cab driver, January 8th.
shareThere are a couple references, but having anything to do with Christmas must have been an after thought. Not a bad film, but I do think John Hughes was exhausted of ideas at this point. Probably the reason why he didn't make another HOME ALONE.
