Hades = Katzenberg

I heard how Hades was modeled after Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was one of the big honchos during the Disney Renaissance and left before this film got made. If that's true, that's just hilarious, since Shrek, which Katzenberg produced, apparently modeled Lord Farquaad after Michael Eisner, the CEO of Disney at the time of both films. Even funnier is how John Lithgow, the voice of Farquaad, was going to be the voice of Hades at one point.

Actually, Jeffrey Katzenberg "green-lit" Hercules in 1993, and depending on the definition of "made", the movie was in active production by the time he resigned. But, yes, he was one of the inspirations for Hades.

They claim there is no truth to the rumor that Hades is based on Michael Ovitz, although another ex-Disney boss, Jeffrey Katzenberg, did inspire Hades' chant, "Guys, guys, listen to me."
