sharelol..its kinda violent for a G rating...
shareBecause like a lot of based Disney stories, it is toned down. A lot of Greek mythology tends to be graphic.
shareThe G rating of the 90s was more like the PG rating of today. Back in the day you really had to earn a PG rating.
shareYeah, I'm watching it now and I'm surprised it didn't get a PG. All of the violence, and that scene where Meg tries to seduce Herc. The MPAA was probably a lot more lenient because it was a Disney film. They're notorious for favoring major studios.

It has enough violence to be PG rated, but since it's animated with colorful characters and most of the violence is happening to non-human creatures, it got a pass.
shareI just assumed it was rated PG, until I saw this thread.
I just watched this recently and with some violence and sexual hints (including a nude women's statue) it doesn't seem like a G rated movie for little kids.
This movie is tame compared to the 4 Disney movies that preceded it so not sure why this is the movie you question the MPAA on.
