wait, so................. ..

Sydney felt guilty about killing John's father...so he helps him out. BUT he didnt have anything to do with his mothers death right?

Sydney felt that he could walk through this life and forgot about the mistake he made. That was the sort of hidden meaning behind this film, hence the last scene where he covers up the blood on his sleeve. Sort of, covering up another mistake.

He killed John's dad and meet him outside the diner. He wanted to help John in any way. No matter what he'd wanted, he'd assist him. It just so happened that his mom died and he offered his assitance in paying for the funeral.

I had to watch this film a few times to really start to enjoy it.

It is a good movie if you can get over the ridiculous bit about how they ended up in the Hotel room.

I still can't believe they couldn't do a better job with that part of the story.

Topmounter...

YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR MIND.

lol...seriously, though, I think it's meant to be such a ludricrously bad situation that it IS almost comical and absurd. I was laughing at the sheer blackness of the situation when I first saw it.

I'm really familiar with both DVDs and their commentaries, and that is not said on either one.

You might be confusing other things in his movies which are based on true stories with this.
