were any of the characters abused as kids
I forget because I saw it a long time ago.
shareWill was (he was beaten up - he could decide on the tool though. I think the choices were a belt, a stick and a wrench.
Will: I used to go with the wrench.
Sean: Why the wrench?
Will: Cause *beep* him, that's why.

Hell yes!

What kind of childhood did his friends have?
shareWe don't know....But we can make some assumptions....That South E was a rough blue collar neighborhood where there was a lot of drinking.
You wouldn't have found a gentle father figure there. Chuckie Sullivan calls it "his mom's bedroom" implying that his father is no longer around...but the house was reasonable nice or functional...so not as rough as Will.
As for Morgan or Billy...we know noting of them except for them being loyal members of the same crew...who all will fight no matter the size of the opponent or the reason for the fight. You don't get that personality from coming up from a hippy dippy peaceful household.
They all knew people first hand who suffered abuse in South E.
Sean was also abused as a child.
He says his father was an alcoholic, and a mean drunk at that. He says that he used to provoke him into beating him, to deflect attention from his mother and sister (or was that baby brother? I forget).
