The most emotionally impacting scene

What scene in the movie left the strongest impact on you? For me it was in Dr. Maguire's office when he repeatedly told Will Hunting "It's not your fault." Will didn't want to hear it, but Dr. Maguire kept repeating it until finally Will broke down crying and wrapped his arms around Dr. Maguire. For the first time in his life, Will had encountered a stranger who demonstrated nothing but true compassion and love for him, breaking through Will's tough guy front and healing the pain that held him back for so long. That was a beautiful moment in film. I broke down crying during that scene.

To me it was definitely the scene near the end where his friend shows up at his place to pick him up but Will was gone. It meant he had started to make the transition to a more meaningful life for himself. It is a quiet scene but what it represents is impactful.

Oh my god that scene was so emotional I borke down in tears too.

You felt (at least I did), that Will was finally broken down to his core. Sean got through. Will now found the root of his problem, and that he had a clean slate to build back up. Very well done.

Besides the "It's not your fault"-scene, I know I get teary eyed during the scene between Will and Chuckie, at the construction site.
The whole "If you're still here in 20 years, I'll kill you"-scene.
Beautifully played by Affleck (and Damon, who's character is actually stumped for the very first time in the movie).

All the scenes mentioned were good in particular "It's not your fault" and where Chuckie realized at the end that Will moved on. Another one I'd like to add is the dialog in Sean's office before he kicks Will out for jokingly expressing his career goal of becoming a shepherd:

"Where's your soulmate?"

Mine was the painting scene. Robbin William's character really let his emotions take control of him. That one scene define Sean Maguire.
