Twist Ending (Spoilers)

Having watched this film for the first time just recently I always wanted to see it but never got a chance to. I finally did and I thought it was great though confusing and I loved the ending with the twist of Will finding out that Sean Maguire was really his father. Who saw that coming! It shows that Hollywood is still great and creative after all these years!

You apparently weren't paying attention, they made it clear that Sean is Will's half-brother, the bastard son of Will's father when he was 13 years old and impregnated his Art teacher at Harvard Prep school. I believe everyone else got that point, it was not subtle.

PS - Everything written above is in jest, but I suppose it could have happened!

I haven't watched this in a while. When/how do you find out about this in the movie?

thanks for clearing that up. It actually was ambiguous. On a side note, I like the added scene where Will stated he always had a thing for Mary Ann of Gilligan's Island, then he and Sean have that great dialogue about "Mary Ann or Ginger"...and then Dawn Wells actually makes a cameo!

After that cameo occurs is when the Sean "Will's father" reveal happens.

Back in the early 1980s I had an encounter with Dawn Wells. It was opening night of a live show at a dinner club in New Orleans, we were allowed to go backstage after the performance. When I went up to Wells I said something close to "I am a fan, I used to watch Gilligan's Island when I was a kid." She took a look at me, realizing I was almost her age, she gave me one of those "hip bumps" that women sometimes do. She gave me a big smile, she appreciated the humor. She was as nice as I hoped she would be.

I will always treasure trading hip bumps with Dawn Wells!

Yeah...the deleted smelling salts scene was probably solid, too.
