Nope, the other guy (mcginnis) won, remember, he let's Buck out of jail to assist Dennis Quaid's character.

Gotta love how there is no transition period for the Sheriff position. One sheriff is voted out and the next day the new guy takes over.

It seemed very abrupt. I don't know about Texas but here in Tennessee there is a 30 day period after the election before new county officials take office.
