Anyone Know Why the Studio Wanted an "R" Rating?
This film is rather odd in one regard. It's rated "R" by the MPAA, but the rating is clearly because of language -- the violence and nudity/sexual content almost certainly would have only gotten it a PG-13 rating. Given that PG-13 films generally get higher box office returns than R films, it seems very strange that the studio didn't just delete a few swear words to bring the film down to a PG-13 rating. Does anyone know the story behind why the studio released it with an R rating rather than make the cuts?
