i don't understand why people thought her acting was so bad in this movie! i thought it was generally and overall pretty darn good and sending out a pretty good message! I didn't think it was wooden or over the top at all! begging the question why all you think she did/didnt deserve the worst actress award?
Bishop O'Hara: You took a vow of hospitality for all in need. Rev. Mother: I lied.
I agree. I can't help wondering if the "Razzies" of that year weren't more drunk than usual. Not that that is a bad thing lol, but I think Demi got a "raw razzie" in this case... Plus , how can you not like that woman, unless you are gay! She qualifies for better than the worst by her body alone!
Razzies for worst actors are rarely worth anything. It's just some elitist idiots trying to 'punish' the movies they hate instead of looking for really 'award'-worthy performances.
She did NOT "bust her butt" on this film. I was on set for over a week in the California desert shooting the recovery mission scenes. ALL physical action was done using one of FIVE doubles. She only came out of her trailer to do dialog close ups.
Viggo Mortensen, on the other hand, did nearly all his physical action, certainly all of it in the desert including tumbling down the face of the dry wash wall to the floor below.
No, she's not a bad actress, but definitely over-rated. She did as well as could be expected in this weird implausible film. But hey, I had a good time working on it!
well she must have busted something because she got all those huge muscles in her close up shots and those were not replaced by a double. plus the lady shaved her freaking head for the role. that says something. i think she should have gotten an oscar for her performance honestly. and you were an extra. i've been an extra and doesn't mean you are there for the entire shoot.
Demi Moore was not even close to the worst actress of that year (or any year). I can only imagine it was because of the premise of the movie itself or personal bias over something silly such as Demi shaving her head.
Personally I find the movie a bit silly, but fairly entertaining.
While I don't believe Demi was the worst actress of that year (or any film she's been in so far) G.I. Jane might have just stretched the level of believability for most people.
And if you are in the military or prior military, then this film is just down right insulting.
The premise of the movie just made it ripe for corny moments and didn't evade enough of them. Like on the plane ride back, at the end of the movie, some doofus just cannot contain himself and gives the line "I'd fight in any war with you GI Jane!" As though we need it crammed into our faces that she's been socially accepted.
The Razzies are a joke. I'd love to see them explaining why Demi's work in this particular film is so bad. She isn't exactly Cannes Best Actress award material here but... Worst of the year? Nope, not buying it at all.
In fact, I think it is in the top-tier of Demi Moore performances. Doesn't amount to much, as she is a somewhat limited actress, but the Razzie "award" is nothing more than an insult.
