just a guess but I'd say she said something to wit: "I'm still in love with my wife>" There can be no response to that by a decent person.

....or maybe he blatantly says i'd rather watch paint dry than go on this boat trip with you guys! ...no it's probably the first one!
even though i've seen the movie many times i'm always soooo glad he doesn't get on the helicopter!!!! ...and its so comforting to know his mum understands simply by the look on her face and the gesture of a kiss as she sees his not getting on board.
gorgeous romantic comedy on the whole, one on my list of favourites!
