Should threre be a sequel?

I just thought it would be cool to see what the baby was, and how they were living. Also it would be funny to see the in-laws together again.

i don't know....usually sequels mess with a classic. and since this is such a good movie, i wouldn't want it to be spoiled by a sequel. it's probably better left to our imaginations.

The baby was a girl, wasn't it?

reply

Only if Salma Hayek and Matthew Perry did it.

Considering that both of them are still in the business.....and still very attractive---perhaps they should. Jessica Alba can play their daughter...

reply

Why? What more could they add to this? The movie was all about the culture clash. Once that was settled, what else is there?

Charlie Murphy!! *punch*
- Dave Chappelle as Rick James

Were you directing your signature to me? If so, then you're the retard. First, there wasn't any argument before you showed up. I just stated there was no need for a sequel. Hollywood is plagued with 'sequelitis" as it is.

If there were a sequel, Salma & Matthew would have to move back to Nevada (perhaps because he realizes his wife needs to be where she grew up, or because he has another opportunity to put up another club). Then both sets of parents could get involved with each other and the fireworks would start!
Absolutely loved this movie and the characters.
Need to remind some folks who think this movie was too unbelievable - it was based on a true story!

Maybe a tv series would be better. With all new cast and Cheech Marin as the father in law...I just realized I described the plot to Rob!
Hmm Never mind a tv series is a bad idea.

No no sequel, there never as good as they should have been always let down and all the funny stuff and love stuff happened. Only Starwars and LOTR can get away with sequels oh and father of the bride and maybe 2nd back to the future.

reply

Father of the Bride? That is the reason this should never have a sequel. I love Father of the Bride (martin remake) was fantastic but the sequel was awful. I love the characters.. but wouldn't want to risk messing up what was great about the first film. In that it was complete at the end.

fools rush in 2: alex & isabel become grandparents when their teenage daughter gets pregnant and has a baby of her own. have the in-laws get involved with one another. think juno meets meet the fockers. :)

reply

Yup, maybe a sequel about their child, who would now be about 15 years old.

I think that there has been enough years since the '97 release and today for there to be a sequel that could be as good as the original and not seem like just a cheap ploy to cash in. The whole movie could be a whole new story, simply using the same characters as it jump off point.
