Tamazula de Gordiano

Okay, I've seen this movie at least 10 times and it just occurred to me that in the beginning of the movie it says that Isabel is in Central Mexico visiting her great-grandmother. I looked up the location of Tamazula (which is where Alex says he is going, which is actually Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco, Mexico) and the distance to Las Vegas, and it is definitely not drivable! It would take at least a week to drive there! And somehow Alex makes it in one day? And Isabel makes that trip a few times a year in that old truck? I think not!

Anyway, I love this movie regardless!

I believe the town is most likely fictional and they probably took a name at random. If this town were in fact the town you found in the state of Jalisco, the easiest way to get there would be to take a 3.15 hour flight from Las Vegas to Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta and then a bus. I doubt you'll ever need a donkey.

I have traveled by bus to/from Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, to the Grand Canyon, via Nogales and Phoenix and it´s a 36 hours trip. However in the coach there are at least two chauffeurs that take turns driving while the other rests. One person driving alone would need several stopovers to sleep.

So Alex' one day trip by plane is doable but Isabel's by herself would take several days as you said.

My wife is actually from Tamazula de Gordiano. You can drive it in one day from Albuquerque, but literally it would take 24 hrs.
