Odd sound mixing

I liked this movie, but did not love it. As some others have mentioned, there is a little something missing that prevents it from being a great movie. But I still enjoyed it.

That nonsense out of the way, one thing that bothered me a bit was the sound mix on this film. Anyone else notice that?

Two examples of many. The first, when Donnie goes to get the "boat money" hidden in his house and his wife moved it. Besides the fact that Anne Heche should have won an award for taking what should be a sympathetic character and making one want to strangle her, man, she was noisy! The sobbing, snapping, sniffing, throat rattling noises coming from this woman in the garage scene bother the heck out of me. Did someone get on a mic in post and do some breathing into it? Geez, tone that down!

The other example was towards the end when the two are sitting in the car and Donnie tries the angle with the boat money. There is so much leather snapping and groaning, or leather creaking against the car upholstery, or whatever it was, you expected one character to tell the other to stop moving, someone will notice all the noise! What the heck was the deal with the sound of that? Put those guys into a windbreaker or something.

Things like this tend to take me out of the movie.

Anyone agree?
