Did Pacino or Depp meet the real people?

I was just wondering if Johnny met the real Donnie or if Pacino met the real Lefty.

The real Lefty died in 1993 (ish) so nobody met him. But from what I have read, Pistone was on the set and Depp met a lot with him and Pacino talked to him a bit about Lefty and Sonny.

Pistone is in the boat scene as Marcello's associate so I imagine they all met him.

Yes they met Donnie Brasco. He is on the boat with them in the movie.
