My dad and I are having a debate over whether or not the song Crimson and Clover had already been written when this film was supposed to have taken place, so does anybody know the answer?

In the sixties I know. Exactly WHEN in the sixties, I couldn't tell you. Early sixties maybe?

Not earlier than 1966 because the Newlywed game is on tv at one point and that premiered in 1966.

It would've had to have been no earlier than the mid to late sixties because Ricky shows a picture of Sonny and Cher during Harriet's show and tell. I would guess maybe 1966 or 1967.

Harriet was watching something on tv about astronauts going to the moon (could have been before, during or after the Apollo launch?), and that was 1969.
And the soundtrack includes a lot of early/mid 60's songs, but also "Samba Pa Ti" from 1970.
The school kids look like they could be from the early 70's based on their clothes, but more crew cuts than I remember.
