Roger Ebert Commentary

One of the last times Roger Ebert was able to use his voice to comment on a film, and what a great commentary, showing the length and breath of his understanding of films, not just the art & craft but also the role of audience. But most of all, this shows his love of films.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.
RIP Roger Ebert

My only regret about his commentaries for the film is that he didn't record a complete new commentary for the director's cut. It's sad listening to the audio cut between his fuller, younger voice in the original parts and his thin, rasping voice on the newly inserted parts. While I know that his health was probably too poor to do a complete new commentary, he clearly loved the film very much and found great depth in it, so I'm sure that he could have come up with an entirely fresh batch of material to discuss about it in a new commentary.
