Opinions on the climax?

Is it just me or was the climax incredibly silly, even really stupid with the people and "Strangers" flying and doing the brain warp thing. And the fact that the city was some kind of spaceship. Other things that just flat out annoyed me were the soundtrack, which felt misplaced in the film, the stranger kid smirking and biting and the happily-ever-after ending.
I had heard nothing but good stuff about this film, even Alejandro Jodorowsky flattered it for being poetic. I also heard that this would be like Brazil, which was great, but here we had over the top seriousness in situations where you couldn't help but laugh.
I mean, a spaceship-city-playground? Really?

Suit yourself, I suppose. I thought it was simply superb. My favourite film of all-time, as a matter of fact.

Have to contend your view of the ending, though. I thought it was incredibly sombre and sorrowful, even if it has a hopeful tint.

Yeah I loved just about everything about this movie, including the soundtrack. I used almost every song from the soundtrack in video projects in college.

you can accept aliens, you can accept a city of perminant night, you can accept a machine that controls and warps the environment, you can accept the idea of manipulating peoples memories and using them as subjects of an experiment, but the one thing you CAN NOT accept, was that all this was happening in an alien-made technologically crafted science lab in space?

I'm curious as to what explanation you would have found satisfying for the City. The space station idea is both creative and reasonable within the framework already created by the story (i.e., aliens capable of interstellar travel and mentally manipulating physical reality).

Loved it. Loved it all. The beginning, the rising action, the exposition, the climax, the denouement.

You are sin.
