Rufus Sewell's acting..

The acting discussion is only about Kiefer and there's almost none about Rufus' acting so i decided to open this thread wondering what you guys are are thinking.

Imo it was beyond terrible. Kiefer was far better than him.

I thought his acting was well enough, I've never had any complaint whenever I've watched and rewatched this film.

He doesn't seem to have a large acting filmography, but another good film that I've seen starring Sewell is Bless the Child [2000] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0163983/.

I really liked his performance. I thought he created a pretty cool character.

I don't think his acting was too bad. Not Oscar material, but he did okay IMHO. Where he failed was the accent, but ya gotta be fair to the guy and remember he was not alone! Most of the cast were Aussies and they all did terrible American accents. It was like fingers down a blackboard every time any of them said a line, so RS came off sounding a lot better than he otherwise might have!

Plus he was up against the GREAT William Hurt, and that's a pretty touch act to follow.

I think there were more Brits than Strayans.

All the background were Aussies and so were the speaking extras as well as some supporting players. I would have liked them to have had more time with a coach to get their accents better but it's only a minor thing. DC is still a great movie in my book.

Considering they all live in a city that's an amalgam of human culture and which has been floating in space for who knows how many years while the people had multiple memories imprinted upon themselves, I'd say not having an American accent isn't much of a criticism.

4th wall break inside a 4th wall break... that's like 16 walls!

I thought the acting of everyone in the movie was very acceptable especially all of the main acting.

reply

wow, really people? i completely agree with you OP. i thought sewell's acting was pretty damn bad and although kiefer's wasn't great, it was better than sewell's.

reply

Honestly I had no problem with how Sewell acted in the film.

Requiescat in pace, Krystle Papile. I'll always miss you.

reply

I thought the acting was the weakest part of the film.
Guess it was serviceable but just.

Sewell had owl's eyes most of the time and was emotionally vapid.
Sort of suits the film but could have been more.

It's still a fantastic film though.

Thought he looked like the son of Ian McShane...
