Everything wrong and everything right with this movie (SPOILERS)

There's no chemistry between Linda Hamilton and Pierce Brosnan, we're not shown anything beyond a very early start of a relationship, so there was really no point implying one, it would have been better if the writers had them be just friends.

The special effects looked realistic.

The moment those two dead bodies were discovered in the hot springs was when the town should have evacuated. Harry and his team didn't need to do all of that volcanic mountain scientific testing stuff, the proof was already presented to them - the fact that the hot springs was hot enough to kill people was clear that the volcano was related to that which means the volcano was very much active. Harry's boss should have been fired by the government, it was HIS fault that the town was in danger due to him forcing Harry to withold information to the town until it was too late.

The ending was embarrassingly cringeworthy, i didn't see anything wrong with it back in the 90s when i was a kid, but now i know better, the corny looks they all give each other at the very end in the helicopter is hilarious man, lol

Dante's Peak is your average disaster movie right next to "Volcano". A disaster movie that outweighs both is "The Day After Tomorrow".
