Does anyone know how Ricci felt after Gallo said so many mean things about her once the film was made? If you don't know what I am talking about he basically said the HE, not her talent, was responsible for her fantastic performance, that she was an idiot and so forth. He also was very harsh on her for promoting her "f@g film" (he was talking about The Opposite of Sex that she was promoting instead of B '66)
I looked for any response from Ricci but could not find any.
Sound is usually the greatest character, even if the sound is absent
oh my god. That's awful. I've never heard anything about this! Granted, it's pretty clear that Vincent Gallo's a douche bag. I absolutely love this film. It's in my top 10. But while I find it incredibly genius, I find it incredibly smug in a lot of parts. Christina Ricci turned in a perfect performance due to her own talent, whether or not it was influenced by Gallo or not. I think of Christina Ricci as being one of the furthest things from an "idiot".
I've seen a video. Gallo says she was brilliant, but like a puppet. He had to act out all her part for her and then shed'd mimic him. I don't know. Gallo says a lot of stuff. How insulting he is depends on how he's dressed at the time. ---------------------------------- I hate heroes. They always end up being rapists.
Wow, so do you go to every post on Christina Ricci and post the same thing Alachual? You posted this on her board and were told off already. Give it a rest.
I don't understand you people, and I applaud Gallo for not coming back on his words.
I'm pretty sure he meant every word he said at the moment he said it: after all, I suppose he was under a lot of stress caused by putting together almost every piece of this wonderful film. And I repeat: almost.
Yet, as it happens, that's exactly what this movie is about: the matter of truth as seen by one person, from one moment to another.
As any sound-minded person should know, 'Buffalo '66' is - amongst other things - about the ongoing duality between one's internal, residual impulses (like self-consciousness, autism, traumas and neuroses - which are safe, easy and basic) and truthful, heartfelt emotions attacking one from the outside. Still, it's on a case-to-case basis to decide which one is the better decision to make.
I just feel sorry about having to rub your face into this obvious parallel. I suppose, since she hasn't replied, Christina Ricci also knows this, and is therefore smarter than the lot of you. Oh so sorry.

Why do you feel the need to be a d-bag?

I think I made a pretty solid statement there, if you bothered to read the rest of my post. It seems you don't get what I'm trying to say here, which is: I'm fed up with people saying stupid things about stuff they clearly don't - or don't want to - understand, up to the point of me almost feeling sorry for them.
Thus, the 'you' in that quotation wasn't meant for just anyone. Yet, in my opinion, someone who adds nothing to the conversation and resorts to calling names can be considered one of those people. Get well soon.

You draw conclusion that we should respect Gallo's opinion and even applaud him for it. Sure Gallo has made a successful and great movie here, but to be as self righteous and clearly selfish as him is simply inexcusable. You draw on these parallels the film highlights, discussing the duality of what you yourself truly feel, and the pressures of the outside world, then conclude that because he meant what he said, we should respect Gallo's opinion and even applaud him for it. The key word here is film. Exploring them in an art form, that brings no harm to other human beings, that is a fantasy lived out on screen is a wonderful thing. Bringing them into the real world, and harming others for no other reason than to appease your own inherently selfish feelings is disgusting.
But I digress, Gallo is a genius, we should applaud him for not feeling compassion, and encourage his selfish and vile impulses. Being an artist does not grant you free license to abuse and ridicule others. Treat others as you expect to be treated brother.
there's interviews on youtube of vincent, he seems like a very nice guy.. he said a lot of things in papers/magazines were all misquoting him and that he got screwed because of that..
Wow. You, sir, are an *beep* You and Vincent Gallo might possibly get along if you only had a brain and comparable accomplishments to back up your smuggery. Hey, maybe he'll let you blow him, and then your life will be complete!
At least Gallo's contributing. It's sad that you have to get your kicks mouthing off on the Internet.
Smuggery? You could clearly teach me a thing or two about being smug, since you have no idea who I am and automatically assume I don't 'contribute', and furthermore: I'm not the one hiding behind an alias including the word 'epic'. Go back to your Lacey Chabert boards.

RickBrands is the Vincent Gallo of the IMDB forums. Please note that he insults someone for making grammatical errors, but every post he makes is also full of grammatical errors. You can't use hyphens in place of dashes, and could you please lay off the colons. You don't need to use a colon every time you have a thought.
By my count, up 'till now, I've only made use of colons six times in a total of five comments; my thoughts tend to occur more frequently than that. I'll be the judge of when and where I need to use one or not, thank you very much. Furthermore, as I seem to find myself in a 'pedantic prick' pissing contest or something: you should've put a question mark at the end of your third sentence.
The hyphen thing is a matter of debate, but I tend to apply them to keep my comments a bit legible - plenty of dashes in my posts as it is.

Fine enough points, but you are embarrassingly pompous.
You're also wrong about Christina Ricci never commenting on this whole thing, as she did address it in 2007, saying that she "never cared to see anything he did again." I'm not denying that Gallo is a great filmmaker of course, but I don't think he necessarily treats his actors with all that much respect. Chloë Sevigny said a year or two ago that she needed therapy after The Brown Bunny debacle; not sure if the implication had to do with the backlash or Gallo himself.
Gallo is kinda known to be a dick. Like a pompous, opinionated artist... I'm not saying I don't like him, but it's that quality that makes me often dislike him. or well, not often but it's usually the quality that kills his image and any appreciation I have for his work.
While I'm here, I want to add that I remember this film being ten times more interesting the first time I saw it. I first saw it when I was 14(?)...I'm 20 now and I watched it again last night. Just wondering if anyone else feels this way. ____________ sleepy dinosaur
Good point, Slownz. If people realized how many times conflict (and trash talk) arises as a result of someone not living up to an expectation that is IMPOSSIBLE to meet (of course, because it is in the other persons head), I think there would be an international "jaw-drop" holiday, lol! Even if its not the main factor here, I have no doubt it was at least ONE of the factors!
