Why did Warner Bros. rush this into production so soon?

Other than greed of course? Production I want to say, started as soon as Batman Forever was released. Before then, Batman movies came out in three year intervals (1989-92 and 1992-95). But here, Batman & Robin came out merely two years after Batman Forever.

I do in my heart, believe that had they waited a year, then the quality of Batman & Robin would've been better. I don't know if audiences were truly ready for another Batman movie so soon after the last one.

Because of the rushed production the fight scenes are pretty bare and generic, it feels like they needed more work on the fight scenes and more time shooting, the special effects do look like they needed more work, the casting feel like one and only choices, at times if feels like the script could've done with a couple of rewrites like the first battle with Mr Freeze should've been in the second or third act, the film was overstuffed with too many characters, I think it would've done better if it was just Batman and Robin fighting Mr Freeze in a Heart Of Ice type story.

It's not uncommon to start up another right after one's success, MCU does it a lots. In the case of B&R they went into to it right after Batman Forever and many feel it would've been best if they added another year work, I don't think it would've necessarily made it better but just in terms of the audience.

They had toys to sell.

reply

So the toys would be out when the film is coming out.

reply

They probably rushed production on those too.

reply

Most of the toys look nothing like the film and some look better if you Google them.

Maybe Warner Bros. was contractually obligated to release another Batman movie by 1997

reply

Batman Forever at the time was the highest second grossing Batman film, so it would make WB go crazy about making another so fast.

reply

WB around the mid to late 90s were producing a lot of junk, not caring about quality, Batman & Robin and Wild Wild West being the biggest offenders.
