'Mike the Detective' Earlier promo film?

When I was 16 (1994), I remember doing some extra work in a Mike Myers film called "Mike the Detective". I had a few friends that were in it with me that I've since lost touch with. It was very similar but clearly a different movie that was never released.

I remember a scene that I was in that took place in a school class room but I don't remember what was happening. I later did a student film with the lady that played the teacher, and she also produced a play that she cast me in. Can't remember her name right now. There was another scene that was at a school dance, and I remember having to do a weird dance for it. I can't remember what Mike Myers did during that scene either. I remember having a great time during the filming during a two day shoot.

Does anyone else remember this or have any of your heard about it before? I'm assuming that it was never intended for release, but maybe was some sort of promotional thing so that he could get the funding for Austin Powers? The premise was the same. A detective who travels through time. I don't know what all the school stuff had to with the plot line, but it was clearly cut. I vaguely remember that it had something to do with him going back to when he was a teenager. But not sure it was correct. I remember thinking at the time that it all sounded so weird. I didn't think it was going to go anywhere, lol. I guess I was wrong :)
